Jesse goes far beyond anything that's remotely normal or attractive in his obsessive controlling of Ava. It was actually difficult to get through at times. It was like watching a train wreck slowly and painfully. That book had lots of super hot sexual chemistry, and I enjoyed the funny banter in Ava's relationships with her friends. I heavily defended the first book in this series (against the many bad reviews) because I felt like he was relentlessly pursing her because he knew that she wanted him, and she was just too afraid to admit it to herself. I'm not even sure what to say about this book. I can't wait for the third part of Jessie & Ava's story. Her sequel "Beneath This Man" is every bit as spectacular if not more so. Jodi Ellen Malpas's first book "This Man" was quite spectacular for a first time author. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? I have listened to Edita Brychta's performance of This Man and she continues her excellent narration. Have you listened to any of Edita Brychta’s other performances? How does this one compare? The absolute wonder of Jessie when he finally puts it together, that despite all his sins of his past life Ava really does love him and understands. That He is the only one who can drive her away by hurting himself, and that if he does it again she will hurt herself again also. After Ava has had herself whipped to show Jessie that it is possible to understand how much He loves her. Jessie confesses his deep flaws and sins to her but insists she cannot possibly understand how much he loves her and has let her down. What was one of the most memorable moments of Beneath This Man?Īfter Ava walks in on Jessie being whipped by Sarah, she flees absolutely devastated by what she has witnessed. If you could sum up Beneath This Man in three words, what would they be?
